One More Espresso Maker
In case you don’t have enough things to distract you while driving, you can now drive to the smell of coffee. Yes, that’s right, coffee brewing in your car, as you drive. Start the brewing process while stuck in traffic. Or a “bridge up” wait. Or a red light, or stop sign with no car behind you. You can start brewing coffee anytime, and never be without. There is a French company (of course) that makes an espresso maker for your car. It’s called the Handpresso Auto, and retails for $200.
Weighing less than two pounds, it fits into the cup holder, and utilizes your car’s 12 volt power source to drive the compressor that produces steam for the expresso pods. Drop one in, add water, wait a couple of minutes, and presto! Coffee!
We need this, right?
NO, we do not need this. Even though the instructions advise pulling over to start the brewing process, you know that some fool is going to try to make coffee and drive at 60 mph. This involves pouring water into a container, speeding down the highway. I just hope that person isn’t in front of me. I don’t want to die over spilled coffee. It’s amazing to me how we keep adding one more thing to our already overburdened lives. Like more is better.
Stop, already!
Distractions cause accidents: they can kill people. People who are distracted while working get less done than those who accomplish one thing at a time, then move on to one more thing. The statistics show that, if distracted at work, it takes about 20 minutes to get back on track. You lose 20 minutes of productive time, efficiency is out the window, and it causes frustration and stress. To say nothing of shortening your life. This is not aging intelligently.
If you want to be more productive, and allow me to feel safer driving behind you, make the damn coffee before leaving home. If you forget, stop at Starbucks. It’s enough that I notice all the people still texting while driving. Don’t add coffee to that as well.
Managing your life better, not busier, is Aging Intelligently.
