ACTION STEP: Awareness
This week, we’re focused on conscious awareness, one step at a time.
Just before you eat:
think about, and become aware of the practice of eating. Move away from your computer, the tv, flipping through magazines, texting, or yakking on the phone. Think about what you are doing: you are eating. Practice that without distraction.
Think about food, how it nourishes your body, and choose mostly healthy foods. Consider eating a break from whatever you are doing, and enjoy it. Don’t shove food in, gobbling as quickly as you can so you can get back to work or whatever you were doing prior. That can wait. Eating is what you are doing right now. Experience it. Savor the flavors. Relax. It’s break time from your hectic life.
This adds a habit you already do (eating) to a habit that you want to form (awareness).
