Action Step, Mobility: Jaw

Start Aging Intelligently today. The road is one step at a time. The route is: move everything in your body every day. We’re doing it, one step at a time.

We carry tension in our jaw, which affects, well, everything.

Just before you eat, open your mouth as wide as you possibly can, then close it. Repeat 5 times. I stole this from Jack LaLanne, the fitness expert from the 1950’s, which is when I learned it. Yes, I am 100; thanks for asking.

Next, open your mouth half way, and push, gently, your teeth side to side, then front to back. Repeat 5 times.

Only then, eat.

This adds a habit you already do (eating) to a habit that you want to form (less tension in the body.

That’s Aging Intelligently.

  1. Hah, you are 100 Dempsey, LOL! Love the energy that comes from your posts 🙂

  2. Dempsey, I’m visiting from Delia’s hood. I love your overall philosophy of keeping the physiology moving, to keep things optimized, and to stay young. All very true! I’m a stress management expert, and I emphasize the physical to clear the mental. What a wonderful jaw exercise you offer! Well done.
