ACTION TIP: Head Tapping
Start Aging Intelligently today, one step at a time.
Just before (every time) you eat:
Tap all your fingers along the midline of your skull at a pace a little faster than comfortable. Not all the fingers together, but like you are playing piano, with fingers individually. Tap from front to back several times. Move on and tap all around your skull at that same pace. Tap on your skull for an entire minute, 60 seconds.
Only then, eat.
Tapping brings attention to an area. It stimulates the nerve endings and increases blood flow to your head, improving brain function. It relaxes the muscles, unless you are tapping harder than you need to. Don’t do that. And, successive, quick finger tapping builds grip strength (yep! that again) and builds muscle in the forearms.
This adds a habit you already do (eating) to a habit that you want to form (stimulation of the nervous system, relaxation of a known stress area, and grip strength).
Aging Intelligently is a process and a practice.
