Are You Hungry Enough To Lose Weight?
You can try all the plans, all the motivation, all the books and programs to lose weight. Some may succeed, others will have no impact. Eating is emotional and psychological as well as physical. Change is hard. Usually it is two steps forward, three steps back. Sometimes five.
But here’s a truth that is as true as the day is long: you are going to feel hungry if you want to lose weight. There is no way around it. Get used to it. Accept it. Feeling hungry usually has nothing to do with actual hunger. It’s the hormones in your stomach whining to your brain. To change the physical (the eating habit), you also have to change the psychological and the emotional. Until you do, nothing sticks.
Strip yourself naked and take a long, critical look. Don’t just look down at the fat around your belly; find a mirror. Look at yourself in it; front, side, and back. Look at yourself as though it were someone else’s body, not yours. Be honest about how you look and feel. That fat that you don’t like has taken time to accumulate. It will take time and effort to lose.
If you want to lose weight, find a plan, get some help, and be prepared to feel hungry sometimes. It’s common, it’s normal, and it’s a struggle. Losing weight isn’t easy! Once you make peace with that idea, it becomes doable. Tie in the physical, psychological, and emotional, and now you have a chance. Until then, it’s a series of battles on the road to failure.
And get used to feeling a little hungry. It’s just your hormones trying to trick you into thinking you absolutely need that donut. Your naked body might argue with that.
Thinner people live longer.
That’s Aging Intelligently.
