Useful Wasting Time Tricks
The light is red. You’re stuck. You can’t go anywhere. It’s unproductive time. Or is it? Re-think how you use the time that seems annoying, and it’s easy-peasy-lemon-squeezey to incorporate some lifestyle adjustments. Make it a plus instead of an aggravation.
Here are some ideas you might try while waiting for the light to turn green, or when stuck waiting for the bridge to lower, or traffic is at a dead stop from a traffic incident:
- Make circles with your eyes 3 or 4 times one way, then 3 or 4 times the other way.
- Dart your eyes from one corner to another, to exercise all the eye muscles.
About 70% of how we move comes from vision, so let’s improve range of motion in our eyes to improve our mobility. To age better, move everything more.
3. Suck in your stomach, hold for a few counts, then release it. The more you do this, the easier it gets. The abdominal muscles will thank you.
4. Roll your shoulders and turn your head from side to side.
5. Rest your head on the headrest, and sit up as tall as you can. That will tell you how much you are slouching in life.
When the light turns green, relax everything and go. Awareness of your posture is the first step toward having better posture. Think up your own ideas on how to move when you face dead time.
Simple and quick; it’s the process of Aging Intelligently.
