ACTION TIP: Spinal Flexibility

Start Aging Intelligently today, one step at a time.

Just before you eat:

While sitting, roll your forehead towards your knees, then straighten up. Lift your chest towards the ceiling, eyes and head looking toward the corner where the ceiling meets the wall, then back to sitting up straight, eyes forward. That is flexing and extending the spine front to back. Repeat 10 times each way. For side flexion of the spine, flex your spine towards your hip while looking straight ahead, then flex your spine towards the other side. That is side to side flexion. Think of yourself as a wheat stalk blowing in the wind. Ok, maybe not. But repeat 10 times each side.

A spine that can move is a happy spine, and it creates postural awareness.

Only then, eat.

This adds a habit you already do (eating) to a habit that you want to form (good spinal movement).

Aging Intelligently is a process and a practice.
